Humans have established a new home on a distant planet similar to Earth, but there is a virus on this planet that allows men who are infected to hear the thoughts of other people and animals. Every man's thoughts can be heard by others, leaving no privacy between individuals. The men in the town of Prentice on the new planet cannot bear having their thoughts heard.
