Also known as "Tarzan, the Ape Man," it is the first Tarzan film made during the sound film era. Van Dyke captures the enchanting allure of unrestrained primitive life, and the combination of location shooting and forest sets is almost indistinguishable. Due to the film's commercial success at the time, the leading couple went on to shoot a total of six Tarzan films.
