In the early 20th century, the Qing Dynasty was on its last legs, with various warlords waging continuous battles, trying to assert their power in a series of fierce struggles. Among them was the General of Zhili, Lei Daniu (played by Liu Qingyun), who, thanks to the dubious means of Liu Kunshan (played by Wu Gang), recruited soldiers on a large scale, growing stronger day by day.
