Movie director In-sung has long harbored feelings for screenwriter Yoon-joo. Meena, In-sung's ex-girlfriend who currently lives in Japan, contacts him to find news materials in Korea and hopes to arrange a trip to Gangneung together, unaware that Yoon-joo will be joining. In a small cottage in Gangneung, In-sung tries to win back Meena, but she refuses and chooses to leave. Alone in the cottage, In-sung calls Yoon-joo to come to Gangneung to keep him company. However, when he sees Meena and Yoon-joo together at the bus station, he fabricates a lie to try to keep both women close to him. "The Two Who Were Close to Each Other Upside Down" comedically portrays how this man entangles himself in a web of deception as he juggles two relationships. Director Cho Sung-kyu has previously directed several romantic comedies, including "Delicious Life," "Santa Barbara," and "If I Confess."
