On Christmas Eve, a scantily dressed single woman was in a daze in a hotel room on a high floor, and she went out to the balcony and fell... The case is assigned to a Black officer named Roger (played by Danny Glover), who has just turned 50, and he discovers that the woman who fell is the daughter of his Vietnam War partner, Mike.
