The disheartened liquor merchant takes his teenage son on a journey across half the globe, from Denmark to Argentina. The son quickly develops his own romance, while the father watches his wife and her lover enjoy their affair, pondering where his own life went wrong. This seems to be a timely 'climate change' tragicomedy, transitioning from the cold, gloomy Denmark to the warm, vibrant Argentina—fine wine, football, tango, and fiery love—all the real and stereotypical cultural differences you can think of between these two countries are vividly portrayed. After such a ruckus (actually more than one), the protagonists must inevitably gain new insights into life and love. However, the director is aware that he has played with too many old clichés, so he intentionally or unintentionally introduces some surprises to avoid falling into banality. Thus, we happily join the characters on their vacation in Argentina, without having to bear their troubles. Whether the ending is unexpected or anticipated, it doesn’t feel like a loss, does it?
