Brandon (played by Michael Fassbender) is a well-dressed white-collar worker in New York. He has a preference for adult films, is used to solving problems on his own, and seeks out casual encounters. However, his relationship with his sister Sissy (played by Carey Mulligan) is quite volatile. Sissy always leaves messages for him, but he tends to avoid her. Yet, when Sissy moves in with him, he shows special care for her. Brandon goes with his boss to listen to Sissy sing, and while his boss is captivated by her charm, he is overwhelmed by her singing, tearing up. In front of his sister, Brandon appears indifferent, while his boss boldly pursues her, which fills Brandon with shame. One day, after a video call with his family, the boss starts berating Brandon for filling his computer hard drive with adult films, calling it disgraceful. In a fit of anger, Brandon lashes out at his sister, making her very upset. Brandon had been dating the company's black female secretary but realizes that what he truly cannot let go of is not his sexual addiction, but the sibling relationship that weighs on his heart. Michael Fassbender won the Best Actor award at the 68th Venice Film Festival for this film.
