The Enforcer, a movie title as well as a TV series title, has both Western and Hong Kong versions. The Hong Kong version of The Enforcer is set in the early 1980s in Hong Kong. Undercover detectives Rong Tianpeng and Li Wei are vehemently against evil and begin investigating a case involving a conspiracy to smuggle fifty-one illegal immigrants into Hong Kong. They find three suspects, but the mastermind Chen Zhendong is a socialite with wealth and power. He sends assassin Wu Tao to eliminate the prosecution's witness and hires lawyer Song Wannian to acquit the suspects. The police find the murder weapon used by Wu Tao, but Chen Zhendong uses money to have someone take the blame for Wu Tao and bribes inspector Yan Ping and Uncle. Rong and Li work hard to follow the trail and ultimately expose Yan Ping's crimes. At this point, Wu Tao is ordered to kill Uncle and Rong Tianpeng, and he frames Li Wei. In a fit of rage, Li Wei kills Wu Tao, and in the end, both he and Chen Zhendong meet their demise.
