When A-Yin (played by Kiyoshi Atsumi) is resting in a cemetery on a small island, he meets A-Wen (played by Keiko Matsuzaka), who has come to pay respects to her grandmother. A-Wen works in Osaka, while her grandmother chose to stay on the small island. However, her grandmother has now passed away, so A-Wen visits the cemetery to remember her. Later, A-Yin encounters A-Wen again in Osaka, only to discover that the elegantly reserved A-Wen is actually a geisha and a top performer with many social engagements. During their conversation, A-Wen reveals that she has a younger brother who has been missing for many years; he left when he was about five or six years old, nearly 20 years ago now. A-Yin encourages her to search for her brother and accompanies her to a construction site where he used to work, only to find out that he had suddenly passed away from a heart attack a month earlier, and funeral arrangements had already been made. This news deeply saddens A-Wen, and she visits her brother's tidy dormitory, realizing she has lost her only family in this world, leaving her feeling immense despair. After returning home, A-Yin continues to think about her until she comes to visit everyone at the silver shop and brings the good news that she is getting married; she plans to open a small sushi restaurant with her husband back on the island. A-Yin reluctantly tastes the bitterness of heartbreak once again.
