The ambitious young director (played by Xiang Fei) plans to make a blockbuster movie. After much effort, he gathers a team and arrives at the filming location in Sichuan, only to find that the originally budgeted 20 million has fallen through. As the crew begins to leave one by one, the director is left all alone. In desperation, the director brings in a man from Tianjin responsible for behind-the-scenes footage (played by Bian Hui), a background actor Liu Xiaohua (played by Liu Yun), and a young man who delivers lunch boxes (played by Wang Ning), assigning them important roles as cameraman, lead actress, and production manager, respectively, forming a mini crew. The director talks a big game while leading these three clueless young men in seeking sponsorship, but ultimately falters at critical moments. Despite their hard work, they end up with empty hands, experiencing nothing but false hope. The disappointed director tries to find a way to escape from these three who are holding him back, while his grand movie dream remains uncertain when it will be realized...
