Renowned university medical school professor Lin Xi-jia (played by Anthony Wong) specializes in researching methods for humans to go long periods without sleep. One day, his ex-girlfriend Qiu Meng-xi (played by Wu Li-xuan) suddenly appears seeking help, revealing that her entire family is suffering from insomnia, with the condition reaching its final stages where patients may enter a state of madness and exhibit extreme aggression! To uncover the truth, Lin Xi-jia begins a series of terrifying experiments: sneaking into a morgue to steal the brains of patients and confining Qiu Meng-xi in a secret chamber for research on the relationship between sleep and brain proteins. As the experiments deepen, strange occurrences continually happen to Qiu Meng-xi; even Lin Xi-jia appears to be affected, as a hidden desire to consume human flesh begins to emerge. It turns out everything is tied to a tragic case involving twin sisters Hou Wen-yuan and Hou Wen-zhen (played by衛詩雅) 45 years ago!
