Staff Sergeant John Kinley (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) is on his last mission on the battlefield. While he and local translator Ahmed investigate the area, their unit is suddenly ambushed during a patrol. Fortunately, both of them survive, but unfortunately, they are the only survivors. During the ambush, Kinley is seriously injured and in critical condition, which undoubtedly increases their escape risk.
