Hugh Glass (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) is a fur trapper who, after being brutally attacked by a bear during a hunting expedition, is rescued by the ship captain Andrew Henry (played by Domhnall Gleeson). The captain hires two men, John Fitzgerald (played by Tom Hardy) and Jim Bridger (played by Will Poulter), to take care of him. John Fitzgerald is completely indifferent to taking care of Glass and is only focused on seizing Glass's property for himself. In a cruel act, he murders Glass's son and convinces Jim Bridger to abandon Glass in the wilderness to die. They both believe that Glass will perish in this way, but with strong willpower, Glass traverses the wild wilderness for several months, eventually returning to safety and beginning his revenge plan. The film is adapted from Michael Punke's novel of the same name.
