For hundreds of years, Shaolin Temple has promoted great causes and developed martial arts, making immortal contributions during times of peace and prosperity. The Qing court, in an effort to suppress dissent and control the populace, conspired with Shaolin traitor Shi Shaofeng (played by Tian Jun) and others to besiege Shaolin, causing Shaolin disciples to scatter across various regions. Master Da Zhi of Shaolin sends his most accomplished disciple, Yun Fei (played by Tan Daoliang), down the mountain to protect anti-Qing righteous warriors and to clean up Shaolin's affiliations. During his journey, Yun Fei receives assistance from Tan Xiaodi (played by Jackie Chan) to infiltrate the town of Baishi, where Shi Shaofeng resides. At the same time, a group of righteous warriors attempts to rescue a Shaolin disciple but unfortunately, Shi Shaofeng's group is well-prepared, and the powerful Du Qing (played by Sammo Hung), Shi's right-hand man, injures many of the warriors. Yun Fei approaches Du Qing, pretending to join Shi Shaofeng's side but is cunningly seen through by Shi and gets captured. Tan Xiaodi steps in again and rescues Yun Fei. It turns out that Tan Xiaodi's elder brother was killed by Shi Shaofeng, leading the two of them to decide to team up to kill Shi.
