Jiang Nansun (played by Maggie Cheung) and Zhu Suosuo (played by Cherie Chung) meet under the golden sun rain. Despite their different personalities, they are of similar ages and become close friends. They encounter Song Jiaming, a half-Japanese half-Chinese man, by chance, and after having a great time at Ocean Park, they lose contact. However, the young women don’t mind, believing there will be better things ahead. After graduating from high school, Nansun continues to university while Suosuo starts working. Suosuo, who knows how to leverage her resources, keeps moving to increasingly luxurious homes. In contrast, Nansun, after graduating from college, starts from a low position and inevitably feels the strain. Meeting Jiaming again is like sunshine in a cloudy sky for Nansun; when confronted with Jiaming's inquiries about Suosuo's situation, Nansun sensitively avoids the answer. Nansun’s father fails in real estate and suddenly dies of a heart attack. Suosuo generously lends a helping hand to the Jiang family to help them through the tough time. Nansun feels she shouldn’t be selfish and allows Suosuo to meet Jiaming. Their friendship, tested by the passage of time, only becomes richer and never weaker.
