After the brilliant collaboration on 'Breaking Away' by director Peter Yates and screenwriter Steve Tesich, they unexpectedly produced this failure of a film. The plot introduces a building security guard who, in pursuit of a television reporter he is infatuated with, pretends to know the inside story of a murder that occurred in the building and offers to help the reporter get an exclusive story. However, they both find themselves embroiled in numerous crises as a result. Despite the strong performances from actors like William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver, the plot development is chaotic and uninspired, lacking suspense and excitement, with limited entertainment value. The film's critique of television news reporting does not hold much weight, with only a few segments being somewhat watchable.
