Once a wildly popular action star known for his zombie films, Qian Xiaohui (played by Qian Xiaohui) sees his career and life hit rock bottom. He moves into a rundown old apartment with his meager belongings. Guided by the security guard Uncle Yan (played by Lu Haipeng), he enters the infamous haunted unit 2442. Xiaohui attempts suicide by hanging, but just when he is on the brink of death, he is haunted by vengeful spirits. Fortunately, an elusive Taoist priest named Ah You (played by Chen You) intervenes to save his life. Xiaohui becomes curious about a white-haired boy named Xiaobai and a woman named Yang Feng (played by Hui Yinghong) who often lurks at the entrance of 2442 and eats offerings. Through Uncle Yan, he learns of a gruesome incident that occurred years ago. Uncle Dong (played by Wu Yao Han) accidentally falls to his death, and his wife Aunt Mei (played by Bao Qijing) seeks the help of Ah Jiu (played by Zhong Fa), who specializes in dark arts, to bring him back to life, resulting in an irreversible tragedy.
