The businessman was critically ill, and in her desperation for her daughter, the businessman's wife sent subordinate B to take the ransom and rescue the girl. Unbeknownst to her, B wanted both to save the girl to gain the boss's favor and to pocket the ransom for himself. Thus, under the guise of rescuing the girl, B actually intended to save her and then kill the kidnappers to seize the ransom.
