Manmo (played by Luis Fernando Peña) lives with his parents in the small Mexican town of Santa Ana, relying on farming for a living. The Del Rio Water Company built a dam on a nearby river, causing severe water shortages in the entire region. The high water prices drive desperate farmers to steal water from the dam. The company’s headquarters in the United States employs pilot Rudy (played by Jacob Vargas) to remotely operate drones to attack 'terrorists' protecting the dam, which leads to the destruction of Manmo's home and the death of his father on the spot. Heartbroken, Manmo leaves his hometown to find work in the border city of Tijuana and meets a writer named Luz (played by Lennor Varela). Luz helps Manmo install a 'node,' allowing him to enter a factory where he remotely controls robots across the United States to perform heavy labor. As Luz deepens her interactions with Manmo to continue selling his story, they eventually fall in love. However, on the other side of the network, the person buying Manmo's story turns out to be Rudy...
