In the near future, scientists discover that the sun is rapidly aging and expanding, and in a short time, the entire solar system, including Earth, will be swallowed by the sun. To save themselves, humanity proposes a bold plan called "The Wandering Earth," which involves building tens of thousands of engines and steering engines on the surface of the Earth to push it out of the solar system, embarking on a 2500-year journey to another habitable place. Chinese astronaut Liu Peiqiang (played by Wu Jing) goes to the International Space Station before his son Liu Qi turns four, taking on the role of a navigator alongside international peers.
