Three days after being abandoned by his mother due to her drug addiction, 7-year-old boy Hendricks (played by Bruno Loza) is entrusted to a gay couple, Chema (played by Luis R. Guzmán) and Juan Pablo (played by Jorge Salinas), by a kindly neighbor. Having just celebrated their ten-year anniversary, the couple suddenly finds themselves with an unexpected child, and they both feel out of place. However, as time goes on, the adults and the child gradually get along better, eventually growing very close. The couple plans to formally adopt Hendricks, but his mother escapes from rehab and, under the influence of her drug-dealing boyfriend, tries to forcibly reclaim her child. What follows is unexpected; Hendricks is sold to a couple who lost their child, ultimately ending up in a social welfare institution. Chema and Juan Pablo, determined to save Hendricks, are willing to break the law, and they find themselves imprisoned as sex offenders. Their dream of giving Hendricks a 'different family' gradually dims...
