This show is a surprisingly hilarious little comedy that emerged in the second half of 2008. The author originally wanted to make a TV series, but couldn't find live actors or animators to help him create it. So he explored using animation software to make a short film, which he then submitted to a festival, and to his surprise, HBO picked it up, bringing it to the screen and making it another latest comedy masterpiece from HBO after Flight of the Conchords. The series revolves around the work life of the protagonist, Tim, depicting the various embarrassing situations he faces daily—being teased by colleagues, troubled by his girlfriend, and made fun of by friends. Each 25-minute episode of animation doesn't necessarily have you laughing uproariously, but it keeps you in a state of wanting to laugh while holding back. Although the visuals are simple and could even be described as crude, the witty and humorous dialogue fully compensates for the visual shortcomings, even lending a certain vitality to the originally simple images. It’s also worth mentioning that the voice actors in this show enunciate clearly, have pure pronunciation, and while they speak quickly, their choice of words is simple, making it an excellent resource for learning spoken language. However, it should be noted that since this is adult animation, some jokes do have a slightly risqué edge, so don’t imagine it to be suitable for PG or G-rated audiences.
