The black supernatural detective film "The Ninth Precinct" is directed by emerging director Wang Dinglin. He mentioned that he came across this story two years ago, which was originally intended to be a thrilling detective style. However, he felt that there are relatively few entertainment films of this type in Taiwan, so he hoped to create a Hollywood commercial film like "Men in Black" or "Kingsman," where seasoned veterans mentor newcomers. The film, co-produced by All-round Productions, Huawen Creative, Let’s Have Fun International Entertainment, and MM2 Entertainment, officially held its opening ceremony on the morning of July 1st. Producers Wang Jun, Ye Rufen, and Chen Hongyuan were present, along with producer Hao Boxiang from Let’s Have Fun, scriptwriter Zhang Guoli, and emerging director Wang Dinglin. The main cast includes Peng Qiaoqiao, Qiu Ze, Wen Zhengling, and Liu Yier, with special appearances by Gao Yingxuan and Xiao Ba, all expressing their enthusiasm for participating in this rare black detective movie with supernatural elements in the Taiwanese film industry. The production team also arranged special offerings for a ceremony at the opening. Director Wang Dinglin expressed that he was afraid of horror films, but did not expect that his first film would be a supernatural detective film. As for the casting, he first thought of inviting Peng Qiaoqiao to portray an old-school detective, saying, "I want to present a different contrast, serious and dependable." The director humorously expressed a desire to have Peng challenge himself with a non-comedic and non-Taiwanese-speaking role; Peng Qiaoqiao admitted he initially thought making movies was exhausting and hesitated to accept producer Wang Jun’s invitation but immediately agreed after reading the script because "the story feels very Hollywood, with the deadpan comedian detective resembling Tommy Lee Jones." He jokingly hopes to transform into a brand-new version of a charming older man, although he is quite stressed about the fighting scenes. Qiu Ze breaks away from his previous image as an idol and handsome rogue in "The Ninth Precinct," challenging himself to portray a detective who can see another world, stating, "He is principled and has a sense of justice, which is very different from before." In the movie, he rediscovers the relationship between the human and ghost worlds under the guidance of his senior. Although Qiu Ze, like the director, is afraid of horror films and gets goosebumps at the thought of them, both still aim to push the horror elements to the extreme. "The Ninth Precinct" describes the police officer Ahao, who is full of a sense of justice but is somewhat reckless, causing his partner to perish and leading him to be transferred to the mysterious unit [The Ninth Precinct].
