 Synopsis
The story takes place in New York in 1887, depicting a female journalist named Nellie (played by Caroline Barry) who accepts a daunting task to prove her capabilities in the male-dominated world of journalism: investigating the Blackwell Island Asylum. To uncover the truth, Nellie adopts a daring method—voluntarily entering the asylum by pretending to be insane. However, Nellie quickly discovers that the reality of the asylum is brutal and shocking. Here, patients lose their basic freedoms and rights, suffering inhumane treatment every day, with their lives gradually diminishing in such an environment. Nellie endures ten difficult days in the asylum, facing enormous psychological pressure and moral dilemmas. Will she be able to maintain her courage, challenge the asylum's injustices, save those trapped within, and bring the evil to light?
