The story takes place in the 1930s. The Mo Family Troupe was the most famous opera troupe at the time, having won the favor of the Empress Dowager. However, on the birthday banquet for the troupe leader Mo Dajiang (played by Hou Tongjiang), who was celebrating his seventieth birthday, the warlord Long Dasheng's (played by Liu Chengjun) sister, Long Jianbing (played by Wang Meiying), appeared and forced the Mo Family Troupe to disband. Mo Xiaohe (played by Chen Guokun) is the last disciple of the Mo Family Troupe, deeply fascinated by the beautiful and cold Long Jianbing, but she only sees him as a plaything. Mo Xiaohe has a childhood sweetheart, Liang Mengfan (played by Xu Dongmei), with whom he was betrothed since they were young. Now, Liang Mengfan has come to propose marriage to Mo Xiaohe. However, since Mo Xiaohe has already fallen for someone else, he is reluctant to accept the seemingly carefree and easygoing Liang Mengfan, leading to many conflicts between them. In reality, Liang Mengfan has a secret mission for her visit.
